WELCOME TO BRUINECESSITIES !
Providing Bruins with basic necessities.
The mission of the BruiNecessities Committee lies in the belief that student success is dependent on student wellness. It looks to support UCLA by raising awareness to the lack of basic resources available on campus and seeks to fill these gaps by working with different entities on campus to bring programs and services to students. BN was initiated from two disparate and unaddressed needs on campus– the service of free menstrual hygiene products on campus and free oral health screenings– but the committee’s reach goes beyond these areas in addressing hygiene, food insecurity, and more. BN links students to relevant off-campus entities and advocates on their behalf in basic needs as well.

BASIC NEEDS
We provide free, sustainable menstrual health products and education to destigmatize menstrual topics. Our work includes hosting product fairs, collaborating with menstrual health companies, and partnering with UCLA facilities to promote campus menstrual equality. Members contribute by creating infographics, hosting fairs, collaborating with clubs, and proposing new ideas to expand our impact in various health areas.
We provide education on oral hygiene and promote equitable access to dental care. Our activities include quarterly Bruinwalk fairs where we distribute dental kits, coordinate with UCLA dental students for free exams and fluoride varnish, and collaborate with other committees for health events. Members can help with fair organization, dental kit distribution, and event collaboration, as well as bring new ideas to expand our outreach.
We aim to provide all students with access to essential resources. Our main initiative is a quarterly gift card program, offering UCLA store vouchers to undergraduates in financial need (look out for the application on our Instagram!). We also partner with campus organizations focused on basic needs, like our recent collaboration with BruinShelter. Members can help with program coordination, outreach, and building partnerships to expand our impact.
